they aren't liked on here because they lack your oh-so-cool aggressive geo... but they're much better than most for ruff and tumble.

i think the only aggressive geo left are IRO and leader.

My Soho-s puts up with a lot of wear and tear, and it still rides great. There are a few components that need changing out, but I love it as my beater/winter ride.

Also, keep in mind while aluminum is stiffer, it's also softer than steel. I'd say check out the Steamroller. A lot of shops order from Quality Bike Parts, and Surly can be ordered from them. I also suggest IRO. I wish I would have gotten an IRO for my first fixed gear. But then again, you can't sit on one and test ride it.

also, I've heard good things about the speciale fixed.

ok, i think i'm going to build up a leader. any thoughts?

Marin Hamilton

• $495 MSRP
Aluminum Frame EDIT: I just checked and the frame is not aluminum, it's 4130 cromoly steel.
• Durable (It comes with puncture resistant street slicks but you can throw knobby tires on it and go mountain biking, try that on your track bike.)
• I'm not sure the geometry qualifies as "aggressive" but if durability and price are more a concern this is a winner. Keep in mind that "aggressive track geometry" was designed for riders who are putting in <1 mile at a time on the bike riding circles at a velodrome. If you'll be riding on the street, those angles will not be comfortable for all day cruising.

Check out http://www.republicbike.com Don't know anything about them except they're cheap. One can click on the 'Build' icon and design a custom color scheme. Tried http://www.eighthinch.com and the same bike w/similar quality components was over 800.00US. Sizes are limited right now as a result of demand, I would think. I've got an ss conversion, but would go Republic for a fx.

Do the 720 if it's not too late! A little more relaxed geometry.

Just that it's SICK. I love that bike. I don't know about quality or anything else, but I assume it is good b/c Masi has been around for a while. I say go w/ that if you like it and you can afford it. Plus, some people will argue w/ me here, but a new bike is a better deal than a used one unless you know what you're doing. You may not know what to look for on a used bike and it could have some serious damage that renders it unusable.

x2! That bike is dope! I work for a LBS and we are Masi dealers. The bike has got looks going for it for days! It rides really nicely too. If you're a weight weenie, it may not be your cup of tea, though. Masi's arent the lightest bikes around by any means, but they are solid, nice riding, and beautiful!
