Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Three flats in in one day. Two back, One front. Had a rear flat two days earlier. That rear flat made me start carrying around a toolkit and extra tube. So after riding around without an extra tube this whole time I was never stranded more than 3 blocks. But now I get this extra tube I get flats left and right.

monsoon hit my city.
I'm caught in the middle of it. no brakes
25mph winds, raining cats and dogs.
go down the hit to my apartment
try to skid to slow down as a bunch of cars had piled up at the train tracks near my apartment building. So I skid to the right and my tire falls from under me. I mess up my left arm pretty bad and my left knuckle, but everything healed up nice.

The dog was fine. There was equal psychological trauma suffered by both parties.

Anyway, this happened to me one of my first times riding in NYC:

I messed up my knee a bit riding 106 miles to Astoria, so I have to let that heal first before I can be destroyed some more. ;_;
