new rear cog and the chain line isnt straight (i dont think)

i just has a new cog put on my wheel, i put it on by bike and spun it and noticed there was a noise i hadnt noticed before. i checked the chainline and i noticed the rear cog seems to be a bit further in from the front chainring. how can i fix this? im not even sure if its the chainline that isnt straight so how do i check to see if it is straight?

Take it back to the mechanic and say the chainline doesn't look straight and your bike is making weird noises.

Is the front sprocket on the inside or outside of the crank?

I just installed some new wheels and a new cog and also have a noisy back wheel.

Any ideas why?

a lot of times it's because your chain is stretched and does not mate very well. Also just takes a bit of time for new drive chain parts to settle in and quiet down.

Its tough to diag over the internets, any pics ?

... could be anything from a chain thats toooo tight, the sapcing could be "off" ...( but. if the old one worked ... ) Are you mixing / matching different size parts ? ( 1/8 or 3/32 )

Its all real easy to diag. in person ...
