I'm looking at the Aliante carbon where the rails are actually CF... I'm just wondering about the strength of the hardware on these types of saddles?
I've been hearing about people breaking their brooks just by leaning too much on it, so I'm curious how a CF saddle would hold up? Obviously don't want it to break/snap apart easily... heh

I suppose it depends on the saddle and the size of the rider. I weigh 165 lbs. and have a Selle Italia SLR XP with carbon fiber rails and I've had no problems at all. No flex or anything from them and a nice ride.

Don't do it. Saddle rails and seatposts are the last places you'd want to save some weight.
I don't know how they break their brooks, maybe they tightened the clamp too tight?

That's gotta be one huge s.o.b. to break a Brooks just by leaning on it. I weigh 250 pounds and I've got over 5000 problem-free miles on my B-17 Imperial.Originally Posted by Farkel
