Cleaned up the ol' Steamroller yesterday for the first time in months. Forgot how beautiful it was without all of the dust and mud. Also, made a set of flop n' chops out of the stock drop bars. Been wanting to try something other than risers for a while. Thinking about trying some Panaracer Pasela 35's and need a little higher gearing... Maybe a 17t out back.

Which shop did you buy your Creamroller from? I actually bought it from Universal Cycles website because I got a ridiculous deal on it and no tax. I had to wait a long time for it in the mail though and of course no free shop tune ups. |
RichPugh: could you give us the details of your build?

RichPugh, you ever cycle in Baltimore city?

pasted from another thread, but I felt I must share with you all, since it was largely this thread that inspired me...
Ladies And Gentlemen! I am off in the next few minutes to go buy a Surly Creamroller! First bike I can call my own since I was a child. I am SUPPER Fing EXCITED!!! EEK I previously mentioned that I was going to purchase from Los Angeles' Abba Padre Bikes and Books. Went there yesterday. Owner, Freddy, SUPER NICE! All smiles. Not much in the way of new complete bikes, but this is definitely where I'm taking my bike for all tune-ups, repairs, etc. Instead I am going to purchase from Orange 20 Bike shop, started by a couple of the Bicycle Kitchen guys. Hopefully I will get the same level of service as Freddy gave me. |

Yes. I live in Federal Hill and usually end up down thru Locust Point around Ft. McHenry, tide Point, around the Inner Harbor, through Harbor East and into Fells and Canton. Sometimes I ride uptown into Mt. Vernon and rarely but occasionally into Hampden. |

Just got the thing last week, finally got around to getting a picture of it:
http://j.photos.cx/phpS3Nd07PM-276.jpg Pretty much stock except for the MKS Sylvan pedals and MKS clips and straps, Brooks B17 seat (hasn't been broken in yet. . . ouch), and chopped/flopped drops. I do need to raise the seat a bit, but I'm going to wait until I'm a bit more comfortable with the whole fixed gear thing. |

Any word when the 2010 roller comes out? Specifically, I want to snag an '09 on sale when they do.

Do Steamrollers require long reach brake caliphers or do short reach caliphers work as well? Do long reachers even fit properly? I was wondering since the reach looks a bit long to accommodate bigger tires

danks. My desire for versatility calls yet again and the desire to have a light bike doesn't even matter much anymore. Anyone looking for a 56cm Capo? :D
