Decal removal
I have a Bianchi Pista and I am a little tired of how busy it looks. Mine is the gangrene paint, not chrome, and I think the huge Bianchi decal on every tube is a little bit much. Does anyone know of any easy way to get these off? Looking at it they seem to be painted on, or under clearcoat, and I'm not sure the best way to get rid of them without damaging the paint around it.
Any advice or tips would be helpful, thanks! |
The decals are under the clear coat. To my knowledge there is no way to remove the clear without ruining the paint.

i have the same question for you guys~ but on the mercier?
|
^ same story, its under the clear coat.

I've removed decals from under a clear coat. I heated them up with a blower dryer and peeled them off. It will leave the area looking more matte than the rest of the bike but it's never been enough to bother me. Might not be the same experience with every bike. These were stickers, not painted on of course.

What about just covering up the decals with vinyl?
Any sign shop should be able to cut you some vinyl and get to choose the color! Just another option for ya. |
I've heard people doing the blowdryer method, works better or worse on some frames.

If the stickers are under clearcoat you should either cover them as monsterkidz suggests, or plan on stripping the bike and re-painting.
Or you can just shoot bedliner over the whole thing, nobody will know what lurks beneath. ;) |
