Nishiki conversion in progress kinda lol

so its been forever but im finally coming aropund to getting my bike to where i want it to be.

It went from

to now ghetto single speed style lol

upgrades so far
sugino cranks/nitto stem/ideal saddle/mks pedals/cages/leather straps/kenda tires....the wheels are temporary until i get a fixed set by the end of this week , Im planning on buy this if its in descent shape https://inlandempire.craigslist.org/bik/1043001405.html and using the frame and wheels ,i noticed there is a smal crack on the down tube of my bike.
I also plan on dropping the straight bars and getting some descent drops

What do you guys think?

Edit: misread as you were going to buy the other bike for wheel and use broken frame.

Cannondales are nice frames. I've had both road and mtn bikes from them and they are bulletproof. Clean welds, huge tubes - very nice. Check the rear dropouts. A lot of Cannondales have vertical drops which may require you to use a half link in the chain if you need to change gearing or adjust the tension. It's not a big deal but something to keep in mind.

I agree, 2 brakes is very needed with singlespeed. I rode 20 miles once on a freewheel with only a front brake. That wasn't pretty and I burned out half of my pads. I'm actually building up a coaster brake for the rear to keep the look clean.

I live In Moreno Valley, pretty close to UCR, I'll try and get a pic soon of the crack, It's pretty small but my buddy said I should have it checked out so I dont know.

I got better pictures of the cannondale, it has braze-on gear shifters and vertical drops =(, just something id rather not deal with , I had already chopped the ones off the nishiki, awell it looks like im going to buy a set of Weinmanns from Bicyclewheels.com and call it a day , and im probably going to paint the nishiki primer black until I find a descent frame.

Woot

Update on my bike , and a few pictures.

That saddle needs some adjusting.

Got a weinmann dp wheel set, picking up the front wheel on saturday , stole the SR bars from my miyata

Front brake going on soon just waiting for some cash to pick up the gold finger lever at my LBS

I plan on painting the bike sometime soon i hope unless I run into a descent frame.

What do you guys think??

I think it looks great. Personally, I like the white. I would put some cloth or leather tape on the bars and call it done.

They do! Even the low-end ones I've seen are quite nicely built.

And they've got quite high-quality paint jobs. Nice enough to leave alone, after all it's only original once! But I'm a dork for patina, so whateves.
