Campy Crank/BB on Bianchi Pista
So I currently have a Miche Advanced crankset and Miche BB on my Pista. I'm getting a good deal on a Campy Pista Crank/BB and want to upgrade. You only live once right? Anyway, I'm trying to figure out if the chainline will be straight with the Campy set up since the Miche BB was 107mm and the Campy is 111mm. If not is there anyway for me to make this setup work?
I've done some searching but I can't seem to wrap my head around this. Thanks. |
I had a campy record BB and campy record crankset on my pista concept with standard pista wheelset and with an alex wheelset. Straight. Pista and BPC have the same geometry so you should be good. I would think your Miche's were 2mm off but 2mm over 383mm is fine.

The geometry between the Concept and Pista is that same? Never knew that. Ok so as long as I use the Campy BB with the Campy crank I should be ok? That combo should give me a 42mm chainline?

Yep up til 08... but in 09, the standard Pista got weaksauce... the head tube angle went 2 degrees softer from 74.5 to 72.5! Eh, I bet its a comfy ride...
I think you should be at an acceptable chainline. I'm not sure on the mm. |

I was under the impression that a 42ish mm (shown is a 42.5mm) chainline was standard for any 120mm track hub that gives a 24mm cog spacing. That is what the Record C Pista crankset should give you. That is what the pista wheelset has. What rear wheel/hub are you running?

Remember that bb spindle widths do not dictate the chainline, the chainring position of the crank coupled with the bb spindle do. Youre Miche 107 bb spindle with your Miche crankset should give the same chainline as the Campy record bb spindle and Campy record crankset... or something very similar. Its when you start using different bb's and cranks that you get messed up. Most track/single speed chainlines are 42mm but can range from 40.5mm-42.5mm depending on cog and chainring, spacing and shims.

Ok makes sense. Thanks. My rear hub is a Dura Ace 120mm width. It sounds like everything is going to work out well.

Dura Ace hubs are within 1mm from just about most every other 120mm track hub out there. Youre good to go.
