Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

You at UVM? Didn't see too many fixed riders lately but now that school's back in I've been spotting a lot.

Pietrus--great looking bike

Longjohns--Love the frame but not what you did w/ the bike. Too matchy-matchy. Just get some silver cranks instead of those Grand Mighty cranks. Also, those bars are horrendous. Clamp on brake is no good either; just drill the fork. I would also get black or white bar tape and saddle.

Dr. Banzai--looks really slick. Like the wheelset and crank a lot. Maybe just a splash of color, though? Like one red or blue tire or something?

And now I'm starting to feel like I'm back in fiction workshop haha

the frame is raw right now and im probably going to go with a champagne powdercoat. i dont think its too matchy matchy. also the b-127's are for the the track. i have *ahem* risers for the commute. i do want to swap out the rims, not hubs, for some silver VO box rims.

Thanks! I tried to add the splash with the cinelli stem having a red logo on the cap and the seatpost, the ambrosio wheels having the red stripe and then the red bar tape. I could see myself down the road getting a tire with a red stripe perhaps.

Not enough colour?

My work in progress:

Things left to do when I get money ( not likely anytime soon)
1. Get bars with more sweep rather than parallel to the frame
2. Matching grips
3. Wald Basket / Front rack

I ride it every day to save money.

I really dig this. Can't wait to repaint my girlfriends mixte to give it a more classic feel. Also, I'm in the market for a used Brooks or brooks knockoff, preferably brown.

Not sure if this is comfortable or anything though.

Thanks, Vixtor, I'll keep that in mind. I try not to buy new leather, but may end up just having to do it anyways.

Mark V

Cross posted in the IRO thread. For how much people have been recommending IRO Mark V as a budget bike lately, that thread sure is small! Anyways, my Mark V came today, it is ALL stock. First ss/fg and I am pretty happy. Time to go put some miles on it...
