Deciding Between Windsor Clockwork and Jamis Beatnik
Hey Everyone,
I've recently been commuting on a Redline Conquest Pro frame that I've been running fixed w/ an Eno hub, but I've decided to put gears on that for road training, so I need a new commuter. I had almost decided on the windsor clockwork for $320 from bikesdirect (https://www.bikesdirect.com/products/.../clockwork.htm). I want something agile, but not too aggressive of a geometry that it's uncomfortable. I was picking on the clockwork because I figured I could ride it until the parts wear out (assuming that'll be a long time from now), and then upgrade as I go. I also need room for fenders, and I dig the orange color.
I just got offered a new 2009 Jamis Beatnik (https://www.jamisbikes.com/usa/thebik...tnik_spec.html) for $380 (list is 600) so that's kind of tough to turn down. The wheels are similar, as are the cranks, brakes, etc. One of the major differences I see is that the Beatnik is Reynolds steel, does that justify the extra $60+tax?
What would you do????
Thanks,
Andrew

I've never had bullhorns, so I'd give them a shot. I have bars and brake levers laying around if I'm not partia lto them though.
