Track Grupos

Alright so I'm building my third Track bike and I'm going for all like components, or as much as i can get. I was looking at some names Dia-Compe, Miche, Campy.... I'm aware of prices generally I know for the most part i'm paying because of quality and partly name brand, but I was wondering if there's any real quality names i could get a grupo out of, Thanks guys.

and also your opinion on dia compe, their new to me i havent done much research on the company.

the older njs groups are kinda dope, specially the ones that don't exist anymore.
a suntour superbe pro group would be out of control, both economically and in sheer ill factor.

seriously, people will visit from different states to see it.

if you've got an italian frame go campy, if you've got a japanese frame go japanese. i've got dia compe gran compe track hubs and i LOVE them. i'm also very happy about my sugino 75 bb and crank combo. dura ace is also great for hubs. miche is OKAY but their chain rings are a wierd 135 bcd which is proprietary to their cranks so mixing and matching ain't gonna happen but i had a miche crank for a while on my iro that i loved. also slightly cheaper than the higher end campy and nippon components but still very nice, especially for the street. that's my 2 cents.

What kind of frame is it?

Not anymore. The new Miche cranks, Miche Advanced, are 144 bcd. I like 'em.

Also, 135 bcd is not proprietary to Miche. Campy uses a 135 bcd too. So even if you got the old Miche Primatos, you could still get Campy rings for it. There are others also, can't remember who they are right now though.

More than likely its going to go on an NJS frame. Vivalo, samson, or 3Rencho. If i cant quite bring myself to find a good deal on one.... I'm pretty set on this bike being an NJS frame. They are just too damn beautiful.

IllSpecialist 03-22-09 12:59 PM

I would have to agree withe Spooki then... a suntour superbe pro group would be hot fire. They can be had if you look around. I'm almost certain that one of the Kierin blog guys has something laying around...

or sugino aero mighty, or dura-ace AX, or athena century, or ofmega pista, or zeus. all depending on what frame and build you're going for.
