Ive searched Google and the se website even the forums but i cant find any old pictures or history on the bike.

Reason Im wondering is I found one on craigslist. The posting didnt say much, it was just a bare frame and fork with tan paint on it (no logos) all he said was SE lager track frame for 150.

I only think its fairly old because the frame is a very vintage shape.

Sorry for the rant. where do I find History on this frame?

SE Lager was light tan quite recently. Not vintage at all.

I thought they started making the Lager only a few years ago. I could be way off about that. They run about $250 new for frame and fork. That said, I didn't know they were ever tan.
I would be amazed about an SE track frame as far back as the 80s. They were a serious bmx maker back then.

I have the 08' SE Lager which is a dark brown, the lite tan one is the 07'. The 09' is red and black. All the logo's on SE's are very easy to peel off as well, I did the same.

OP, i'm curious-- what gave you the idea that this was a 1980s era frame?

as for thinking it was vintage i can only play the ignorance card, im quite new to the "track" thing and the frame looked to me closer to the shape of an older one than newer.

And since you guys know what it is, is it worth the 150?? would you suggest it for a newbie build?

considering there are places that sell just the frame for $120, and this has the headset, fork, and seat post, i'd say go for it.

to be honest, you'll have a better chance getting a mid-level 70s or 80s steel frame for that cost.
that said, some people believe that low end steel today is technologically on par with the decent stuff from that era.
just note that this frame is a lower end frame; not complete crap, but not very good unfortunately.
for the price, it's not bad though. buy it, build it up, ride it for the summer. if you like riding fixed, start upgrading piece by piece. if you don't, sell what you built and chalk it up to experience.

just a question though: do you know if 58cm is for you?

size was the next thing to check, but thanks for that info im not made of money but i will wait for quality, now with that info in hand i think a vintage frame would be a better suit for me (id probably like it more )

just remember, vintage doesn't mean good; you'll have to do your homework. the only thing worse than a crappy frame built today is a crappy frame that was built before you were born.

The Lager frame is not "crappy" in any way. Its going to be better than most of the 80s steel frames you find. The components on the other hand are another story.
