Two new converts

Two new converts to fixed gear: me and my Fuji. I gathered up most of the stuff and fixed it up tonight, just using a track cog on the freewheel hub. I'm running 42 x 16 x 27". I took the back brake off too, and now part of that lever acts as a dummy until I get a better setup with a BMX lever for the front. I'm using toe clips, and the old steel crank set is on there until I can get a new chainring and hook up the newer ones I have lying around. I had to re-dish the rear wheel a little bit, which wasn't much of a problem, although I do have to go over it and make sure it's nice and true tomorrow.

I went out and rode around a bit tonight in a parking lot across the street, and it was pretty great. I found my previously well-honed bunnyhopping skills vanished as soon as I had to keep the pedals going; I'll have to work on that as time goes on. However, I was able to skid a little bit, which made me happy. After a few minutes I was starting to feel normal again. My knees feel a little funny, which I guess is because of the skidding attempts and poor bunnyhopping.

Besides what I mentioned above, my bike looks soooo much cooler. Mmmmm.... fixie.

so..did you do the lockring...loctite..or both in conjunction? how has it held up so far?

so far it's just the cog, no loctite, mostly because i want to ride it for awhile before i do anything permanent. also, i'm using one of those dura-ace cogs that is so wide that a lockring won't fit on the end of the hub. i was originally going to use the lockring. loctite is probably soon to come. so far it's holding up, though.
