I'm on a tool-buying spree, splurged on a crank bolt wrench . . .

. . . and the stem and saddle for my next build came in.

Thanks, I agree. They just aren't very practical for using them on a sorta worthless bike.

Might as well as buy a tube of anti-seize. Ti bonds to alu FYI with anti-seize sticking around longer than grease.

carbon fiber and aluminum have an appreciable potential difference too.

in college, i once had to remove a carbon seatpost from an alu frame by hack sawing it off, then using a friggin hammer and chisel to scrape out all the CF.

Prep compound solves all of that.
Think liquid glove stuff but on a bike level. Same goes all the other stuff that we use.

I went into a shop to have an aluminum crown race removed from a full carbon fork and an employee was a bit annoyed that I used anti-seize on it. I took his word for it that it wasn't necessary.

In that case of course, totally different story; considering a stuck crown race can easily be dealt with physically and it lives a relatively sheltered life to begin with.
Definitely not the same for a BB or seatpost however.

Once I put on a bib it was no worse than a b-17(IE comfortable), in regular clothes though I could feel how painful it would be after a few miles. I can't help it though... someone gave me a frame worthy of upgradeitis....

+1 on the anti-seize. Had an aluminum seatpost seize inside of a Ti frame. Never again.

Gave up on my Fizik Antares and threw it up on CL. Scored an second SLR for $40.

Yeah, I went with those too, have no idea what I actually want, but for $10, these should be a good start. Of course, I don't have any brake calipers for risers...might have to get all fixie cool and go brakeless.

Bought a bike for my bike. Winter build (as in building over the winter, not building for the winter).
