Found an almost new Elite X2 stem. Really wanted a Masterpiece seatpost but settled for a barely used Elite.

where did you get this bounty of fine thomson componentry?

Was at the local bike co-op the other day, and found some fenders off an old Japanese Bridgestone. It had been raining, so I decided to try them out. Not exactly the standard fixie option, but HOLY COW do they make a difference when you're riding in the rain.

Bought an trainer today. Damn that hurts the wallet.

Nitto bars from a camera store?

I'm about to buy this, any comments before I do? Don't mind the straps, until I can get something good I'm going with the lowest of the low.

nylon straps are TERRIBLE. They are like chinese finger traps for your feet. Spring for the cheap ale leather straps they have (or the economy ones), those are MUCH better. But i recommend http://www.wabicycles.com/pedal_options.html the laminated double straps if you are on the cheap for some quality straps.

Garmin Edge 500
Specialized Pro Road Shoes (closeout) -- lucky size for once

Scrodzilla 12-29-09 06:50 AM

Dino88 - I second that nylon straps are bunk. Get these for 5 bucks more:

+dt competition spokes

excited.

WoundedKnee 12-29-09 10:34 PM

Why are they so bad?

the_don 12-29-09 10:56 PM

I like nylon straps, they are cheap and hold tight.

I got some Zefal ones, they are cheap, come in different colours and are easy to tighten and loosen when putting my feet in and out of the straps.

WoundedKnee 12-29-09 11:35 PM

Thats what I would've thought. Nylon seems like it would be a bit more durable than leather, I may be wrong.

the_don 12-29-09 11:44 PM

it is. MKS straps suck also, the clipping mechanism gets rusty if the weatherman mentions anything about rain.
