Used wheel

Is this wheel a real deal or should I avoid the "no name hub" and seized up cog? I am building my first conversion bike and I'm trying to keep it cheep but I don't know if this wheel is just crummy and I should go with something new and with name brand components. |
its not cheap if you have to replace it quickly.

like the ad says, if you want to change ratios all the time, it isnt the wheel for you. that is a decent price for a fixed wheel. its just a lower end stock wheel off (probably) a bikesdirect bike. i have a lot of miles on my motomess wheelset and have no complaints

ive gotten a mavix ma40 laced to a maillard fixed/fixed hub for 50 on cl....with 2 fixed cogs....so paying 60 for that is way too much....ive seen deep v's laced to formula hubs for that much.
|
Stay the F away from it. I think you have some solid advice here.
|
If you can't remove the cog, it isn't worth anything near $60, and it sounds like getting the cog off may destroy the hub. It's quite possible that the cog was cross-threaded and the hub is already stripped, or the subsequent efforts to remove it may have damaged the threads. Look elsewhere.

Eh, its a risk

I've lost interest in this wheel, plus the guy hasn't responded to my email after he asked me to give a day that I'm free.
