SE Lager

I am looking to pick up a 2008 SE Lager from a seller on craigslist for $360. Its the stock black version. Is this a good deal? Anyone have any experience with these bikes? Is it of decent quality? What are your opinions of this bike.

Thats not a 2008 I don't think. The 08(which I have) came in poo brown. It's a good bike though, I would try to talk the guy down a little if it's stock.

If you do your own wrenching, get a BD Dawes. Even the aluminum version is $359 shipped.

It's funny you should bring this up!! My GF just bought an '08 Lager from a guy on CL for 220! It came with new pedals/clips and FRONT AND REAR GATORSKINS for that price!!! Great deal! The guy selling it works at Performance Bike so he gets stuff at cost and was just doing us a favor by selling it that cheap. It is in great condition and the labels are all taken off (looks much better w/o labels).

Anyways, enough bragging, to answer your question I think it is a good bike. Not amazing, but the frame seems really strong and stiff. The welds are decent looking. The bullhorns that come w/ it are really comfy, too. Overall, I think it is a good bike. Try and talk the guy down though.

I bought a new 08 SE LAGER last summer, I love it. I bought it for $550 but what I know now that price was a bit high. Anyways it came with a decent wheel set, formula hubs and I did some upgrading. Overall the frame is pretty solid and has a nice ride. I am pretty sure the black version is the 07' anyways if it is in good shape I say go for it, sounds like a good deal.

i just bought an SE lager '08 from a guy off craigslist for $220 and it's GREAT. it's my first fixed bike and i had my boyfriend come with me to check it out. we both agreed the deal was *****ing incredible: he upgraded the clips, stem and had gatorskin tires. for 220, i took the deal.

is suggest you attempt to knock the price down a little. the frame is sturdy, solid, handlebars are a very comfortable ride. i thought of switching them out for drops (because i hate bullhorns) but i realize they're great.
