top tube pad
getting my new frame tomorrow and i want to keep the top tube clean from lock-up scratches as best i can.
all i can find are the pake tubes that are super thick. kind of want something a bit thinner but plain.
i looked on ebay and can't find anything..
this dude at the lbs who rides fixed tells me he just steals them from the little kid's bikes at toys r' us and spray paints em.. i wonder if i could go to jail for that....

get some vinyl sticker material in bulk in the color of your bike. Doesn't look stupid, and protects your bike.

Some of my friends have Reload top tube pads. I don't have one but I condone them.

what difference does a non scratched top tube make if you cover it with a pad that is going to get you beat up at school...its a bike not an Aston Martin, who cares if it gets a little scratched, just gives it character!
just my 2cents
but now that i ranted... uglypads.com

For an unfashionable, but totally functional, solution, wrap it with a split open, old, inner tube.
But really, I agree, "...it's a bike, not an Aston Martin..".

x2. My bike looks better with all the signs of obvious use it's got on it than when it was new and flawless. I might feel differently if I weren't riding a bike that was tig welded in Taiwan but that's how it is.
