Good integrated headsets?

Hi all,

Not that the project of mine is close to completion, but would still like to know if you have any experiences with integrated headsets that you would like to share?

The project in question is a Principia track frame I got for a decent amount of money. I've the rims, hubs and various other parts sorted, but am at a loss when choosing a headset. I am not made of money, but am still ready to spend if it means getting something good. And, of course, am not willing to pay for junk.

So, if you've the knowledge, please, let me know.

do you know specifics as to the type of Integrated headset you need? they are based, i believe, on the OD of the headtube. that should really narrow it down from "what's good" to "what fits"

Ah, yes. Have to check the OD.

Al or carbon frame? The Al bike looks to be 45mm Campagnolo.

FSA and Cane Creek IS series are cost effective integrated headsets. You'll probably be fine with the lower level ($30-$40) range headsets if you're not going to be using the bike in severely foul conditions.

My 1 1/2 year old Synapse came with a cheap level FSA headset. I have a couple thousand miles on it riding through wet conditions at times and it's been fine.

What this guy said. Buying a 100+ dollar road bike headset is just plain ********.

The Ritchey WCS integrated has angular contact bearings just like CK, the only difference is one is made in the US (CK) and one in Taiwan (TR). The Tange International is a nice CF headset too.

I ride the WCS and have had no complaints.

My frame is the aluminum one from 2004, so not as new as the one in Soil_Sampler's picture. But yes, I guess it makes sense to get either the FSA or Cane Creek headset.

I attached two pictures of the frame and fork. (I've gotten rid of the stickers except for the one on the seat tube.) I guess the frame's pretty standard when it comes to dimensions. I believe the specifics of the head tube are 1-1/8" with 45 degree ACB for head set.

that is not a integrated headset.

What? Really? I really thought the cups would accept something like this:

the singespeed & fixed gear forum is the best. I love it. <3

If it's not integrated, what the hell is it? Semi-integrated? Some weird design of Principia's?

Don't know if it's of any use, but the following have the same cups:

Damn it. Now I start to wonder whether or not I'm up the creek with no paddle...
