That really sucks man. On the positive side it's really easy to identify making it harder to sell or use.

i agree that it should be easy to ID, even if it's repainted... but seriously... you don't even lock it up??? my sympathy goes way down. at LEAST use that ****ty little lock you have hanging on the bars.

why should i? it's not my ugly bike. if he didn't want someone to have it, he should've locked it up. my guess is that he didn't care, so i'm taking the opportunity to be all "yuck".

?

Well, maybe you didn't care and someone cared a bit more for the parts. It will likely be parted out and the frame (the most identifiable feature) will wind up in the dumpster sort of like Lance's TT bike. Not that this bike compares to that TT bike, but you get my point.

i'm just surprised that a small college a ways from anywhere would be a good candidate for bike theft. there's not a lot of nice stuff around, and it wouldn't really be worth the while. i haven't ever locked it around campus, because i felt that anyone coming to really steal bikes would be able to get it reguardless. cheap cable locks are the only necessary protection here. the bike rack is unprotected from the weather, but the overhang of the building doesn't have anywhere to lock to.

College students don't steal. So far away from criminals, you would think it's safe.

Colleges and commuter parking lots are NOTORIOUS for bike theft. I know dudes who made careers grabbing bikes in the burbs and selling them in the Bronx.

Smaller colleges, people are less tempted to steal bikes because people see their faces. However, larger colleges where people are anonymous, there are an awful lot of students who supplement their income by bike theft.

Huh?

That's like saying dogs don't bite.

Do you think that "uneducated" people get in their cars and drive 2 hours to college campuses to steal and then drive home? Seriously, is that what you think happens?

"Oh, man. My $100 Calculus book is missing. I think some dude from the inner-city musta took it."

Riiiiiight
