This kind of crap makes me want to throw my fixed gear away. Why not just go ride your bmx bikes?

It's been said a million times before on this forum, but if you want to throw your bike away because something that someone else does, then you're probably riding your bike for the wrong reason. So it would probably be a good idea for you to throw it away; maybe someone who actually wanted to ride it and didn't care what they looked like in other people's eyes could find it and give it a good home.

It's figurative speech, mr. literal. I am simply saying that I hate when people like that give fixed bike's a bad name. People make generalizations and then it comes around to you when someone says oh he's just another hipster trickster. It gets annoying/old. I love to ride my bike, emphasis on ride. It's just my opinion, so I thought I'd see if anyone else shared the same opinion with me.

Well, Mr. Figurative speech, since we're playing that game I didn't really think you wanted to throw your bike away. What I do think, and am going to word more directly this time, is that YOU are the one giving fixed bike's [sic] a bad name. Do you think Sam Miller is sitting around worried about how other people perceive him because of the bike he's riding, or what other people are doing on it? I know him, and know he's not. He's just riding his bike the way he wants to not giving a ****. You, on the other hand, seem to be more concerned with your image and how other people perceive you because of your bike, and what someone else might be doing on it. YOU are the one concerned about image here, which is a pretty hipster thing to do.

LOL, I hear people who call other people hipsters are now considered hipsters. So ****, I guess we're all hipsters then! I love how you're getting all butthurt over my opinion. Just cause you know the guy and are trying to defend him, hell you're probably in the video hahahaha. And it's so ironic that your signature contains "but I don't dress or act like a dirt poor coke head indie-kid either, so no one really has any cause to." That just proves that image does matter, whether you like it or not. When you see someone on the street, their image is what you see, not their personality so stop with the cliche remarks about how image doesn't matter. As far as affecting me, yes I do care about my image, I try to conduct myself in the best light that I possibly can. If that means staying away from generalizations and stereotypes that I don't agree with, I'm going to worry about my image. This post was not meant to hate, but merely communicate an opinion on a PUBLIC AND OPEN forum. It's like how dance club music branched off of Hip-hop and all the hip-hop heads hate on the genre because it reflects poorly on hip-hop's roots. I am hip-hop in this situation and these kids are the new dance music genre. Ok, done ranting.

Man, I saw this old lady riding a bicycle on the sidewalk today, and she looked about 75. She was riding this old geared bike, had a hat on with a helmet on top of that, and she had what appeared to be ski goggles on. It gave me a slight chuckle because of how funny it looked.

AnOxymoron, if you decide to throw out your bike, let me pick up your Deda Piegas.

i just feel bad that you're still at the stage in adolescence where other people doing things that aren't really in any way harmful to other people bothers you so much.

some people never grow out of it, but believe me, it takes so much stress out of one's life when trivial crap no longer bothers you.

get over it. eventually you will, why not make it easier and do it now?

Eh, the way I worded my first post makes it seem like I'm steaming with hatred. It's more like I skateboarded a lot until like sop****re year in high school, and all the bmx bikers who frequented the skatepark were complete dicks/tools to skateboarders.

So, I formed a grudge against bmx bikers in general and now they are invading a sport I love. Yeah its cynical, but that's how I am. To say it's a stage in my adolesence is immature in itself.

Your posts are getting stupider. You said you like to stay away from generalizations, but you are hating on two kids you dont know because some BMX riders made fun of you in high school? Save yourself some embarrassment and close this thread now.

I don't care about what I say on the internet, srs biz is a lost cause. Clearly posting this on a forum full of jackasses alike is a lost cause as well. And lol at made fun of me in highschool, more like took over the skatepark and broke my leg from riding out of control like an idiot.

edit: UCP, I like that video. Atleast nobody is doing crazy barspinz down stairz with grnarly ripskids.

I'd rather see someone riding the living **** outta whatever they're on than 50 jackasses having a track stand circlejerk.

I do have a fairly short attention span though. IMO, naturally.

if you dont like the contemporary fixed gear scene, i suggest you go ride a road bike. the audience for road bikes are more grown up like you although they probably dont care about the mechanics of a bike, just how much carbon fiber can fit onto the price tag.

~nuff said, "Just Ride YOUR bike" and stop hating
