I converted this Road bike to what you see now a single speed road bike.

Why exactly did you leave all the cogs and deraillers on?

Trying to lose a few pounds by pulling extra weight or something?

I just anchor the cable stop In the barrel adjuster at my preffered gear
the smaller of the two front chainrings and the third biggest on the rear
wha-la Instant single speed great for the poor man wanting something to run
to the cafe with?

I feel you need a derailluer to act as a chain tensioner

That is quite a ride.
But you need to feel the power, my Brother.
Commit to the fixed gear Dogma.
You only need that one gear.
You only need that front brake.
Remove that freewheel and deraileur and rear brake.
You will know the truth as you spin on that fixed cog, binding it with a BB lockring and some blue loctite.
Spin, so smooth, out onto the street, you WILL KNOW THE TRUTH.

The Rev is right. Even if you keep the freewheel, the rest has gotta go. Not shifting a geared bike is not the same as riding SS/fixed. Go visit Uncle Sheldon Brown's website for further empowerment. Unless you posted your modification with tongue planted firmly in cheek.

if you really want it to be ss, you can do what i did for awhile: remove one of the front chainwheels and take off all that gear-changing equipment, then find a chainline that works and shorten the chain. and take that plastic wheel-guard-thing off the back too it will looks sooo much prettier.

To be honest, I'd prolly do what you did before I spend the amount of time and money others do in buying or 'building' a 'proper' fg/ss.

I do remove the back brake..all I have Is a front brake I feel It's a good Idea to keep
the rear derailluer because It acts has a chain tensioner otherwise things can happen bottom brackets loosen up from uneven forces I've proven that to be fact[keep your rear derailleur.However you
are right about the rear brake I always get rid of them?See ya all later..by the way I got another roadie at a garage sale want to see a pic It's a Puegot I'll post on another thread later

If everything's tight and in good repair, and if you check it often, it shouldn't loosen up too much. I just don't like all that extra equipment on my bike. Also, I was referring not to the brake but to the plastic thing next to the freewheel. P.S. - lose the kickstand.
