283 revolutions to travel one mile? I think you're right.

=2.83

First, you divide 5280ft by the circumfrance of your tires in ft. Then, you divide that by your gear ratio.

I will now measure, and disclose when necessary, how many revolutions my bike has on it, not miles

2.83 miles per minute is 169.8 miles per hour. You're looking for revolutions per minute.
