Campy Chorus Toe Clips

So, I have a pair of these kinds of pedals:

and I was hoping someone who has used these pedals or similar pedals could tell me about their experiences with them...

I have been using them with size 'm' and 's' clips, which I know are too small for me, because my shoe size is 9.5 US Men's. But, I'm debating whether or not I should splurge on some L/XL clips. The only ones I can find are made of 'alloy', which I'm afraid might break. Also, these pedals were obviously designed for use with special shoes, and I'm worried that even after buying bigger clips, the pedals may not work as well as some other kind of pedal.

I wear Adidas Sambas:

which have a low, narrow profile and are worn quite smooth.

In summation: Has anyone here had experience with pedals like these, and how did they work out with regular shoes for you? Also, if you had 'alloy' clips, was durability ever an issue?
I'm not riding fixed gear, but I do pedal quite vigorously.

I realize that my question is not about riding about fixed gear, but I posted here because people who ride fixed are likely to know more about toe clips. Additionally, I posted in the road bike forum and they couldn't help me.

my experience: you can sell them on ebay for about 85 dollars

I haven't used the Chorus alloy clips, but my experience with Super Record alloy clips is that they are considerably more durable than other alloy clips I've used. But aluminum is aluminum, and it will never be as durable as steel.

The Chorus pedals pictured look very much the same as the Victory pedals, which did come with steel clips. The same steel clips were also used on Triomphe pedals, which may help broaden your sourcing.

how does riding in the Victory pedals in regular shoes feel?

I can't speak to the Victory pedals, but the Triomphe pedals are among the most comfortable I've tried with regular shoes.
