So, where is it? Vaporware?

i mean, it's in the catalogue, but if no one has one to sell, what's the point?

^ I think that would be awesome, as well. It would be possible to design a cam so that it pulled the right amount. Perhaps someone will make it.

Darksiderising: That's nice that they're taking the time to refine the product before letting us break our teeth with it, but I want one. I suppose they won't have a neutral between 2nd and 3rd like on the old SA hubs, eh? That would be nice for steep descents.

Personally, I've been trying to figure out a good solution for DT shifting. Forget brifters.

I believe the shifter is just a downtube shifter in a pod. I am hoping that you can just take it out of the pod (which you must be able to do anyways to change pods for different attachment locations) and stick it on a downtube shifter boss.

why though?

you've only got three speeds so that's one for the hills, one for the flats and one for going downhill, fast... doesn't seem like you need a lot of shifting

Curses, beaten again.

Yeah, I don't at all see a need for brifters on a 3sp. A downtube shifter, thumbshifter, barcon, or even a stem shifter makes sense to me, but a brifter? Seriously? For those breakaways when you need to instantly jump from your 63" gear to your 85" gear?

I thought it was 2 granny gears and then direct drive. A neutral for steep descents sounds interesting.

There's nothing nifty about brifters!

I don't even much like triggers, witness my front shifter:

^ No, there's nothing nifty about red cable housing, cross-sided brakes, metal toe clips, and leather/pleather straps..

(work in progress as of that shot. trying to fit v-brakes around 700x60 rubber was a bit of a chore.)

PS: When the hub ships, I will be happiest with an old-school trigger thumbshifter. I wouldn't sneer at a nice downtube shifter either.

touche. But you knew what I meant. A neutral on a fixed-wheel would be awfully useful in certain situations, like at a light if you don't want to lift the wheel up, and going down a hill if you spin out. But they won't put a neutral. They stole it from all the other hubs, even the coasters :O

darksiderising: yes, downtube and options for thumb/barend pod, please. Maybe it'll shift as fast as the old triggers, too? They just jump into gear. CLICK!

dt and barends can get in the way. brifters don't. They should have just designed it to use a standard pull length so you could use whatever you wanted.

There is no such "standard pull length."

Serious quetsion: what's a brifter???

I'm guessing a combination of brake lever and shifter? Like on modern road bikes (shimano 105, etc)?
