The New Langster 2010
Sure, now they go with steel.
What about it?
I think it looks good. Wonder what it will cost and what the geo is. Probably it's just a basic steel road bike with track ends.
that looks way better than the current. hopefully the top tube is level and the geometry is tight.

looks nice
that said, it bears resemblance to the ubiquitous madison and, a few months into 2010, i'll probably be sick of seeing it everywhere too i see it's threaded too. i wonder if they plan to go standard w/ that. |

They may be a day late and a dollar short with that one. The trend now seems to be towards more modern, functional, and fast (or at least fast-looking) than old-school retro. I agree with happytruck, they are playing the same card that Schwinn is playing with the Madison. |
Now they get it.
It's just copy of this year's Schwinn.
looks like a kilo or dawes. they could at least put some good looking dropouts and fork on it
Gross. I'll take my '08 Langster Boston anyday.
Funny I'd take that steel langster any day over the city themed langsters.
MSRP is $440.

Here are the other Specialized Langster models posted so far:
S-Works, MSRP $990 (Frameset only) http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/5305/770101l.jpg Steel in Red/Chrome & White, MSRP $440 (Frameset only) http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/9630/700792l.jpg http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/1618/700793l.jpg Langster, MSRP $720 (Complete) http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/1888/900711l.jpg Also, the steel ones remind me a lot of the old Allez Track, which was apparently manufactured by 3rensho. |
so, I'm not sure if I'm getting this right- is the complete bike still aluminum, and they're also selling steel frames? Seems confusing; they shouldve given the new frame a new name, unless this is just a brief phase in/out thing....

The geometry on the steel model isn't available yet, but I'm curious if they keep the lax headtube angle found on the base model, or if they give it a 74-75o HTA. |
Ok, maybe 'confusing' wasn't the right word- I just find some small amount of humor in producing nothing but aluminum, aluminum, aluminum, and a little CF for a decade... then, finally, a single steel frame and making sure everyone knows it's STEEL guys, it's STEEL!! :)
no sloping toptube? nice.
I'll still ride the S Works any day.
not bad, a little generic. looks like a red madison.
if only they made the alu langster with a horizontal TT. It is quite a nice ride, just looks out of place in the Track/Tarck style that is so popular. If they did that I would buy one. They do ride nice and are light, with a fairly decent component set for the price.
I wonder how accurate those pictures are to the true frame?
They're drilled for back brakes, but have no top tube braze-ons (or they're JUST hidden, like the alu version has them 45 degrees off to the side. I'm sure I've said it before- a horizontal top tube is purely style over substance, and it makes the frame more versatile. I only got rid of mine because the ride was uncomfortably stiff, in favor of springy old steel. |
