Replacing my Bike
I just got into a nasty crash, and put a nice buckle in both the top tube and the down tube of my bike. Looks like it's time to replace it.
Thing is, I don't want a track bike, rather something with a more relaxed geometry, a nice compliment of brazeons (both rack, fender and rear brake) and room to take 35mm tires with fenders. Aside from the Jury (Not the biggest fan, I'd prefer shorter reach brakes, those are a bit absurd) and the upcoming WTF (Can't wait), what choices are there? Frame only would be nice, my components are in good condition, so why replace them |
Surly Steamroller.
Good to hear you survived the crash btw. |
You want the surly crosscheck

surly crosscheck or steamroller.
|
Yea, Crosscheck fits that bill nicely. The Steamroller fits fatties fine, but lacks the fender and rack braze-ons and is a steeper track geometry. Only downside to the Crosscheck might be the canti brakes.

I really like the looks of the new Handsome "devil" - apparently it was modeled after the Bridgestone X-0, and can be built in many practical configurations..
http://www.handsomecycles.com/images...ruiser_1-t.jpg Haven't seen one in person, but have heard good things. Edit: oh, yeah, there's also the Kogswell P/R, which comes in a 700c version. I have the 650b version in a geared setup, and it's great. |
san jose?

San Jose is a good option to
If you just want a frame I'd go with a cross check though, more braze ons, and the ability of going with gears. Although that Handsome Devil, is pretty hot, if your a fan of XO-1's |
