yeah I do most of my distance riding on my road bike, but I average 10 miles a day on my FG...always w/ a backpack that has tools, u-lock, notebooks, deodorant, etc...I also always have a waterbottle w/ full water on my bike. I never thought about that...

Maybe ride the wheelset you have for a while and see how it holds up and what issues you have. There is such a range of options for a fg/ss wheelset. Personally if I had it all to do over again I would get 36 hole Mavic A719 (bomber touring wheelset, box section) laced to low-flange Phils. Accommodates wider tires which are better for absorbing potholes and railroad tracks and the other slings and arrows of commuting and urban riding. I have the ubiquitous Deep Vs laced to a great set of hubs but the Deep Vs currently have 23mm tires which kinda but me but aren't worn out enough to replace just at the moment.
