in the market for bullhorns

i thought the nitto RB-021s were the ones for me but i rode them yesterday and was let down to realize the hand position in the downward angled section of the bars was not really functional. i think it was because there was no back sweep, and the angle was painful for my wrists.

is there a bullhorn out there that has room on the tops, and a downward sloping AND backsweeping hand position? i think the syntace stratos might fit the bill, but i havent seen a pic from above to make sure.

if you have those bars, can you upload a pic from above for me?

yeah the stratos are exactly what you are describing, just know that there are the 0, 200, 400, and 800 (not sure if those are made anymore) which is 0, 2, 4, and 8 cm drop

what is the drop on the RB-021? it felt really good last night.

[thats what she said]

RB-009's have a full shoulder/flats. All of the drop (bending) happens in the 'horn'. I find them wonderful.

It's just a pic I found on the internet. I believe those are the 200's, which is labeled in his pic album.

Stem is a Salsa 80mm (C-C), threadless 1 1/8".

Frame is a Kilo TT 50cm.

Also I would like to note that in my experience with these bars, the top does not have that much room for hands (and I have small hands). I actually like the room on the top with the RB-021's.

Not sure what you mean. That's sort of like saying I don't like Levis because they are too short for my legs.

...Syntace Stratos come in S,M, and L (43mm). Where do you suppose that extra width is added?

scoobydrew 05-28-09 01:59 AM

Sorry, what I meant to say was that there is less flat section on the Syntace than the Nittos, but there is more downward slope section on the Syntace than the Nittos.
