My frame is here!

So I'm so energized I cant hold it back. I know no one cares but here goes. I got my new frame in the mail!!!! yea. It's been a long 25 days wait since it was sent from Switzerland. And the past 10 or so days every day coming home from work not seeing the big box left on my porch was so disappointing (I live in a relatively crime free area so they leave packages on the porch) Anyway I was riding my schwinn fixie home last nite and thought about it but then got lost in my thoughts during my commute. I pull into the driveway do my usual skid out in the grass, practice a track stand and then look up. There it is! a big box marked Swiss Post. Rip it open and behold a beautiful Italian made steal lugged road frame. Columbus Aelle Tubi and a Columbus steel fork with some Sontour Cyclone breaks and levers to boot. The lugs have this really cool heart stamp out in them. She will make a great fixie. Now I just need to measure the chain line, get a BB and a Head set, some bull horn drops, and transfer the remaining parts from my Schwinn and away I go. Hopefully in time for my vacation on the NC outter banks July 4th. For anyone that does care I will post pics when she's done.

Sounds more like it is a DeBernardi. DeBernardi's have heart-shaped cut outs and Columbus stell.

Oh I wish it were a DeRosa, I love those. All I know is I got it from a guy who apparently was able to get a hold of a warehouse full of frames that were reportedly made in Italy in the mid 80's to early 90's and never used. He put a sticker on the head badge that says 'Titan'. I searched Titan frames to no avail however. But hey the whole frame and fork cost me 60 bucks so you can't beat that. What ever it is, it's lugged columbus tubes. I'll try and take some pics later. The rear stays are chrome as well as the fork.

No thats an old Campy Record hub and Mavic rim probably of the same era. I did get some brand new (old) Suntour Cyclone breaks and levers however. The rear hub is a Suzie flip flop and Mavic MA2 rim

Funny story here. The verbal response to a funny story "(That's) Priceless" is a common coloquialism down here. That CC company has actually tried to sue people who parody their advert, apparantly unaware that parody is perfectly legal, and that the term "Priceless" has been used coloquially since anyone can remember.

Just remember - take the p!ss out of big business - it's not only legal, it's your civic duty!

Thylacine 06-10-04 08:07 PM

How dare you use the word '*****' when you could've used the word '*****'

McKenna: Those heart lugs look just like the ones on my DeBernardi. Did you ever figure out what kind of frame it is?

No I did not figure out what it is. All the guy knows that I got it from was that it was Italian made and from late 80's early 90's my guess is early 90's. I don't know if these were factory seconds at one time and were put aside for what ever reason. There is a very minor bubbleing in the paint on the down tube lug. It's hardly noticable but perhaps that would make it a second? The frame was slightly out of alignment acording to my string test (about 1mm) so I cold set it back into alignment. Now it's in the shop getting a headset and a BB. They did'nt have any Italian BB's so it's on order...
