I bought a KMC Z50 a loooong time ago for $7 and it's still going strong.

I have the 410 from my LBS recently for $6 and I have broken 2 plates when cutting the chain to size but they may have been faulty and the rest of the chain is in perfect working condition. even a cheap chain will work and last a long time if you lube it and keep the tension proper.
