Tire recommendation for a cheap SS conversion
I'm in the process of doing a relatively cheap conversion of a department store, one-piece-crank bike to single speed -- getting a cheap single chainring, singlespeed freewheel, new chain, and new hand-built aluminum wheelset. I know the frame isn't the greatest, so I'm not looking for comments to the quality of that. It's sturdy, not terribly heavy, and in pretty good condition. This is my first conversion, so I'd rather do it on a cheap-o bike than on a more expensive, nicer frame.
Anyways, what I really need some recommendations on some relatively inexpensive, decent quality tires for this thing. I'll need 27 x 1 1/4 tires. I simply don't really know the tire market that well.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
