LEADER Fixed Gear

Hey yall new to this, im thinking of going from a Peugeot single speed to a LEADER fixed gear have the opportunity to pick one up for about $700. First of all this would be my daily commuter for work, thoughts on that? Second is that a good price? looks like I got a deal, and Finally what would I expect going from single to fixed huge mistake on my part?? please do let me know!!

i can't completely speak to the price, but that sounds like it may be a little on the high side, for what i've heard about that brand.

if you get an aluminum frame, it may be a good idea to use a carbon fork with it, to make the ride quality smoother.

i don't think it's a mistake to go fixed (you can always use a flip-flop rear wheel and switch back to singlespeed if you decide to do so later).

additionally, the geometry of the leader may be a little bit steeper, causing it to possibly be a little less comfortable over super-long rides (compared to the peugeot's road geometry).

The price depends on he components that are on the Leader frame. For $700 it better have some good components and fit you very well. Because for that same price, you can get a new bike with decent components that is fit to you.

I've even seen Trek T1 for not much more than that price.

You have to think you can get a brand-new leader frame, fork, headset, and handlebars for not much more then $330, so if you think that the wheelset, crankset, and the remaining small parts are worth the extra $350 or so, then do it.

Personally, I think Leader bikes are GOOD bikes, but they are not GREAT bikes. I enjoy riding my brothers and I am debating whether or not to finally build mine (I have a 721 frame and fork just lying around in my room) but there would be no way I would buy one for $700.

THIS.

they're not cheap. they're just as expensive as prebuilt ones of higher quality.
