polo ?
Hi, I'm usually in the touring forum, but have an old fixed peug. I love riding around town.... Question... Polo ? anyone play ? is it a lot of track standing and "backwards" elusive pedaling... I'm not the most adept fixie rider, but it looks like fun.

Never played. Want to. But all the big kids are hustlers. They'll **** you.

Don't use a bike you care about for polo playing.
No need to trackstand or pedal backwards. Have fun! |
most people dont even used fixed gear bikes as thier polo bikes. use an old k-mart mountain bike if its ur first time. you're gonna crash a lot.

my polo bike is set up 35x22 single speed. I bought a smaller beater frame that I threw some various parts on.
Alot of people ride fixed, but I would say the majority ride single speed. Its all about what you are used too. You can be more maneuverable on a single speed (i.e. pedal strike) If you are on the west coast you will probably be riding a mountain bike, if you are on the east coast, converted track or road frames. |
old schwinn fully rigid mnt bike with 700c wheels and a 22x19 gearing fixed .....spin city but i can start and stop on a dime

There are a lot of people that play polo with freewheels. I find it harder to defend the goal on a freewheel, that is why I prefer fixed. There are a lot of good players that play freewheel though.
