A whole bunch of bicycles sold in India, China etc. have these fork reinforcements. Out there folks carry heavy stuff dangling from the handlebar. It is more like a add on / aftermarket stuff that can be retrofitted to commute bikes.

Kona, IndyFab and Rock Lobster have all done singlespeeds like that at some stage. Obviously, that pic is juuusssst a little before their time *heh*

Thanks for all the help now I know It's a Morley

I sure liked the Morley catalog,I showed my dad the pics and catalog
and showed him It's one out of about three bikes like that ...that Morley manufactured
they all look similar hard to know exactly which one It was?

schwinnbikelove 06-19-04 01:08 PM

I wouldn't be so sure it's a Morley unless your dad remembers that name. A good portion of the bicycles made, say, before 1940 look similar to that.

chip 06-19-04 01:11 PM

No he doesn't remember the name he was just using someone elses bike at that time

shecky 06-19-04 03:48 PM

It'd be difficult to know the make from such a photo. That was a very common design prior to about 1930. More old catalogs can be found here:
