Fenders and trailer on Steamroller
Hey All,
Below are a few pictures of my ongoing project to get "full" fenders and a BOB YAK trailer to work with my Steamroller. You'll see the rear fender is now far from "full" but still very effective. I had tyo cut the rear portion down to the point I lost the rear V support but it all seems to hold up fine with no fender scrape when I bounce off of curbs and what have you. I snapped a picture of the spacers I needed to use to get the BOB Nutz to work on 120 spacing and I also snapped a picture of the aluminum chainstay protector I used on the back of the seat tube to protect the paint and frame from grit abuse. All low grade pictures so I hope they look reasonable. See below

Oh, forgot to add a few details - my tires are 38c Kenda something or others, the spacers I used for the Nutz are all serrated on the inside edges. I'm not really sure if that matters or not but I just felt safer feeling like they all sort of locked together and now I need a solution to keep the rear tire from splashing crap all over the front of the BOB trailer bag when it rains. For the moment, a plastic garbage bag folded over the front of the bag and just held in place on the bottom by the weight of the bag and on top I sort of stuff the bag between the BOB bag and the bungee cord I use to strap it all down. I think I'll cut down a liter water bottle and use zip ties to hold it against the post of the trailer. Not sure.

bmw5nkj,
Thanks. The winged nuts were part of my homespun solution for being able to get the fender off if I need to get the wheel out for whatever reason. I also used a winged nut on a bracket for the seatstay support. The Steamroller is taking a real beating. I'm using one of those paint pens for touch ups but since I could not find a perfect match I decided to go black and it seems as each day goes by I get a new "vein" in the frame. But, that's what this bike is for - the fixed gear beater/science experiment. The uglier it gets the safer I'll feel. I'll post up a full trailer/bike photo soon. It's pouring rain right now and I just got back from riding her.
