Thanks for any input guys,

one of them has sweep, one doesnt. i forget which is which, but if you get without sweep, youll be sorry.

oneangrytoast 06-30-09 02:58 PM

these have sweep, should be fine. i have a pair on order, i can get back to you if you PM me to remind me in a week or two

john ransom 06-30-09 03:10 PM

Cool, thanks. I think I'll be fine with them. I just was curious as they seem a little thicker than the others. I'm gonna order themn tonight. Where did tyou order yours from & how much were they?
-john

oneangrytoast 06-30-09 03:23 PM

thicker? how? they have a 25.4 clamp.

i ordered the blue anodized ones from keirin cycles in miami beach who ordered them from euro asia imports. i could have got them from lots of places, but i wanted that blue and they have the EAI acct and its the only fixed boutique in all of south florida, so i like to keep them in business. :D

john ransom 06-30-09 03:36 PM

Oops, sorry. You're correct. I've just been looking at tooooo many parts today & am getting confused.

blue sounds really cool. Think I'm going with the silver.

Best,
-john

I just got these. Does anyone know what bike levers would fit on these?

Scrodzilla 06-30-09 09:01 PM

Any BMX-type lever will be just fine. They're 25.4 at the clamp and taper down toward the ends.

kiMBos 07-01-09 12:40 AM

I think they are too overpriced. How much did you get it for?

pazzmore 07-01-09 01:10 AM

i've been riding them uncut for a few months now and really like them. For street and longer road rides they have been great. I have an old Dia-Compe BMX finger brake on it (Not pictured)

pazzmore 07-01-09 01:51 AM

^^^ Naw man. I used to cut all my risers down, but no more. These are perfect for me.

Nitto risers are a gigantic waste of money. Just find some abandoned rusted out mountain bike/cruiser and yank away.

Spending 50 bucks on something that I can get for free to doof around on and take a hacksaw to, strikes me as a waste, considering risers are the dumbest handlebars you can buy for an on-road bicycle.

Why are risers dumb? Care to offer up some reasons?
I find them to be super comfortable for road riding. I just ordered some Noah's Arc bars too, I am curious about how they will change the ride.

Spend a few hours in the saddle and it'll be very clear. Sure they are fine if all you do is ride to the coffee shop, but for anything other than short rides, they aren't ideal.

oneangrytoast 07-02-09 11:06 AM

this is a thread about risers. dont bring your troll ass in here and talk **** on them. kthx.

im sure theres plenty of other threads you can share your opinions in.

oneangrytoast 07-02-09 11:07 AM

that said, i do agree that $50 is a lot to spend on risers. so, yea, take that! haha

Well what do consider a long ride? I take 30-40 mile rides regularly on these risers and am at least as comfortable as I ever was on my drops (which I only ever got into climbing hills). The roadies I ride with on longer rides never seem to get off the tops of their dropbars, so I don't see much of a difference.

And they make a hell of a lot more sense than riding track drops on longer rides.

oneangrytoast 07-02-09 11:41 AM

AND the tops of road drops usually have no sweep, unlike risers.

i just bought these bars a week ago. 50 dollars is expensive, but given the choice i had, these seemed like a better pick. the others were dimensions or something like that. way too much sweep and didnt like the rise on them.

i had never ridden risers before(bull horns and track drops for the last three years) and i must say that i am stoked on them as far as city riding goes. any ride longer than 15 miles or so and i take my road bike anyhow so the single hand position shows no limitations so far.

i also noticed that they make up for somewhat ill fitting bikes as well. i have a lot of seat to bar drop without the risers. long legs and short torso means i can only get up to about a 54/55cm before the top tube becomes too long.
