Sweet pics! Don't know why, but I'm surprised the stickers are applied by hand.

I think Velocity is based out of my city. At least that's what their site leads me to believe.

Well, I haven't heard of any Velocity rims trying to kill a VeloNews editor recently.

that would require operator to know what he's talking about. and most of us understand that this is well out of the realm of possibility.

I love seeing factory photos...even mass produced products have a LOT of hand work involved.

he probably meant deep v's. deep v's are not the best all-around wheel for the money. they're too heavy and aero.

in case he meant what he said, he may have meant buying a pawn shop revolver, that is too hot to sell for more than a set of aeroheads, which would be used to hold up a store/owner for some mavics or zipps.

why the aerohead hate? they're decent weight, they build strong, they trued up pretty easily.

i mean, before everyone goes shouting open pros, how necessary are the eyelets really? is their super praise based mostly on hearsay and The Bicycle Wheel? I built up my aerohead with aluminum nipples with twisted spokes. the nipples didn't round out, none got pulled through the non-eyeletted rim, the twisted spokes have put a more severe angle on the nipple but have otherwise had no adverse affect. i pound this wheel into potholes, over traintracks, and off curbs and they have not come a noticeable amount out of true. the rear was laced without twists, 3x, and is a bit out of true. but i've ridden that 2.5 miles on a completely flat tire over train tracks, road cracks, and a couple potholes and large rocks. three times now i think.

they're good rims.

Lots of people have different opinions on eyelets. My outlook is that if it works fine without them, and you don't hear lots of horror stories about nipples pulling through or cracking rims, then why worry? Aeroheads are light and strong.

Interesting photo set. With a background in ID, it's always interesting to me to see fabrication plants for different products.

I wish I could paint things like that btw. Looks so fast, easy, and quick. :|

Yeah of course not, because you've actually built up tons of aerohead wheelsets with the proper tension on the spokes right?

Please, just rid us of your ignorance.

It would be interesting to know who supplies the bulk material in pictures #4, 5 , and 6.

I've seen foundries that produce extruded aluminum before. It's CRAZY.
