My Tarck Madison

I took a Walds rack and cut off the outer parts to give it a slim profile. I learned that trick in the C&V forum. Anyhow, here's my shiny yellow bike with a Cannondale bottle thingy, Brooks Team Pro and the pump that starts with an L (can't remember the name right now).

Just curious, why does the rear brake cable cross over the top tube?

Aries 07-12-09 06:32 PM

ugly as sin IMO

Just different from what you're riding most likely. Not ugly by any means.

You running panniers on that rack? I think I'd miss having a large space to prop stuff up on.

Scrodzilla 07-12-09 07:00 PM

Confused.

What makes this 'tarck'...the reflectors, dual brakes or the rack?

I have other bikes I use when I need a full sized rack. When I originally installed the Walds it made the bike look like a Schwinn Collegiate and though there's nothing wrong with that look, it is not what I am looking for. This modified Walds rack is not for perching things on top and I use it sparingly as this is not my "touring" bike. I throw a single pannier on either side when I'm going to be riding a long while though. Otherwise it doesn't get used much. And the rack leans so I don't kick it with my foot.

And yeah the reflectors need to go I just haven't taken the time to do it. I've been busy with my Fred Wagon.

Good point. I'll take more pics soon.

djeucalyptus 07-13-09 09:51 AM

 that bike is like the anti-tarck  bottle cage + pump + rack + reflectors? maybe tarck if they were all dayglo (that bike could probably actually pull it off).

the sloping rack is driving me crazy! and is that the stock stem? might just be the photo angle, but looks a bit long.

psirue 07-13-09 11:48 AM

fix your rear cable.

Retem 07-13-09 11:55 AM

those cranks are dangerously looooooong pedal strikes are no fun

cc700 07-13-09 11:57 AM

wtf good is a rack like that gonna do? everything will just fall off the back with it angled like that.

1fluffhead 07-13-09 11:57 AM

I think you have your definitions of Fred and Tarck confused.

conor 07-13-09 02:00 PM

i think fred is a more apt description.
