maybe i'm just a bit skeptical, but i feel like this page is like one of those pictures where you're supposed to pick out "what's wrong in this picture?" any thoughts? -Dennis |
I would just have a hard time spending that kind of cash on a bike I wouldn't even see until it showed up on my doorstep. I also don't think that it could be worth that at all.

maybe i'm just a bit skeptical, but i feel like this page is like one of those pictures where you're supposed to pick out "what's wrong in this picture?" any thoughts? -Dennis it is very expensive, frame doesn't look good, paint job is terrible, the price of $2,000.00 is too much |
If you are over 5'3" this thing is way too small. For 2G's you can have a frame built for you and spec'd out with the best parts that you pick. Anyway, would you leave a 2G bike outside of the bar for a few hours.....I wouldn't.
|
Yeah for that kind of money i would have a custom bike built. And actually i never buy anything on ebay that costs more than about 200 bucks, after that i want to see it in person.
|
i'm not even thinking of buying it.
just think it looks curiously like the KHS Flite 100 from 2000. which, of course, is what i'm currently on the prowl for. this is all speculation on my part... i didn't know Reynolds makes frames? -Dennis |
this is actually an auction that I had caught before in here:
http://64.191.20.129/showthread.php?t=52196 ****ing rip-off at that price. KHS frame, with decent parts, not worth the price. Too bad this guy doesn't know **** about what this really is. End |
Funny how he deleted this part from the first auction when he relisted the bike:
This bike was given to me by my cousin who rode professionally for years. The bike is in perfect condition. I really dont have any knowledge of this bikes particulars but if you are into expensive bikes*you will know what this is. The bike has no brakes (front or rear) no freewheel assembly, no rerailer or trans sprokets. Plus, he went from a starting bid of $1000 to $2000. Doesn't one usually go down in price when something doesn't sell the first time around? Hmmm....it does look like a KHS frame from just looking at the colour itself. And a Reynolds frame? When did they make bikes? Also says his cousin road the bike for years (in [165]'s link). Wouldn't he have known what bike he had been riding for years? Unless it wasn't his cousin's bike. |
ahhh,
thanks for the link to your past thread, 165. that's exactly the kind of ranting i was looking for. anyone know where i can find these older orange KHS frames? this guy's rocks: http://www.fixedgeargallery.com/2004/erikpeterson.htm -Dennis |
yeah...i saw that listing the other night and got so pissed off that i nearly called the guy and chewed him out. (510 area code, and i'm in berkeley).
KHS flite100, reynolds 520 (or thereabouts) frame. stock KHS wheels (quando hubs/some dumb rims), old mavic cranks that are probably worth less than the stock sugino75s that were on it to begin with...this guy's a moron. $550 at the most for that bike. |
With a 'buy it now' price of $2500! Let me get my wallet! What a deal!
|
Did this guy steal the bike or something? No decals, his cousin story is probably bogus, doesn't really know much about the bike he is selling. A hint of suspicion crossed my mind, that's all.
|
Yep, Looks alot like my KHS Aero I posted pics of in another thread. He says Campy hubs and Mavic rims Sure is KHS orange. Mine was $450.........I love my bike but if his sells I'm listing mine right away !!
Tony |
i dunno... i tend to think the guy is just stupid. people who steal things that they are clueless about usually sell them for really cheap. he's probably just trying to rip people off...or see what he can get for it. my friend was going to put his HH track bike on ebay with a reserve of like, $1million, and an opening bid of 0, just to see what it would be worth to people...
|
report him
|
Notice how the latest listing has it as five years newer than the earlier one. This bike is going back in time!
