Singlespeed bottom bracket
 

Hello everyone!

I recently bought a nice vintage (if mid 90s counts as such) frame that I'm intending to turn into my first singlespeed (flip-flop) bike.

I need to buy a new (used) bottom bracket, and I don't know what the usual length for singlespeed cranks is. I also don't know much about singlespeed cranks other than what I've read from Sheldon Brown and skimming through the bike sales magazines. Any help would be appreciated (recommendations for bottom bracket length, cranks, etc.).

Crank length is personal preference really. Standard is 170mm. On a single speed it doesn't matter all that much.

Bottom brackets cost like $30 from your LBS. I'd suggest going in there to make sure you get the right threading and such. Just ask the mechanic what you need and he should be able to help you out.
