tricks on a carbon fork?

how do carbon forks hold up on trick bikes? I found one for a good deal online but I don't know if it would collapse if I beat the heck out of it like I do with my steel fork.

doesnt make me feel safe... :dunno:

jakerock 07-17-09 11:11 PM

Well... what do you mean by tricks?

hairnet 07-17-09 11:22 PM

Well I'd take into account the kind of fork. Are most road or track forks suited for the impacts from wheelies and such? Would a solid mtb fork be better?

I don't know anything about tricks so I assume these kinds of questions go through your heads, right?

nothing super crazy, just stuff like barspins and bunnyhops, just screwing around in the street, but i also play bike polo on occasion. i think a carbon fork would hold up, but im just wondering what other people have experienced, as i only have experience with a carbon fork on my scandium race bike, which i definitely don't mess around on.

hmm thats a good point. im looking for something strictly 650 though because this will be for a funny bike. currently im using a raleigh rush hour for screwing around on but i got a good deal on an old tt bike

well that answers my question thanks!! i guess steel IS real! especially when you are beating your bike up.

jakerock 07-18-09 12:19 AM

Yeah... and doods who like to catch air put on those funny looking BMX forks! Full on goofball-land.

I had a carbon fork on my trick bike for less than a week before it split at the 'crown'. Carbon is fine for road bikes and on the track, just not for any street tricks.

just try it
