Anyone have any experience with the Wald quick release front baskets?
the ones that dont have the 2 additional supports bolted on the fork.
https://waldsports.com/index.cfm/sto...39&prod_id=199
how well do they hold up? is there any disadvantage to not having the extra supports other than the weight advantage? this is for my girlfriends single speed with a coaster brake.

My wife has the mesh version quick release basket. Works great and is used all of the time.

I used to have one on my comfort bike. its pretty nice since it is pretty sturdy and goes on quick. However, if you get the slipover one, two hooks hang onto your handlebars and then there is a little thing that goes on your headtube. Since the thing turns with your handlebars, it will scratch up your headtube over time.

I got a mamachari for those shopping occasions. It is a steel SS P.O.S (oh come on BF's. You censor those 3 letters together!?!?!?!), but it has a basket on the front and a rack for passengers on the back. Not much use to you guys because you can't get them in the states.
It is funny seeing this basket related love, because I associate these forums with performance based discussions, not old women riding their rusty squealy brake mamacharis and ringing the bell all the time telling you to move out of the way.
Oh that pisses me off! Sometimes I remind them that it is actually illegal to ride on the sidewalk.
(that is the least enforced law in Japan, with beating Korean girls in public being a close second)

I have this exact basket on my grocery getter, an old Mongoose hybrid tank. The basket is sturdy. It does rub against the headtube but it hasn't caused any discernible scratching to my bike thus far. My main complaint is that it rattles a bit when empty but lots of baskets do that. Wald makes a good product.
