Did they discontinue the Thomsom stem with the 26.0 bar clamp?

Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Did they discontinue the Thomsom stem with the 26.0 bar clamp?

I went to the LBS the other day trying to order one with a 26.0 bar and they said that only the 25.4 and 31.8 were availabe...

Does that mean Thomson discontinued the Elite series (the ones with the 26.0 clamp?)

Bikes: Serotta Colorado III Track (Renyolds Ouzo Pro Aero Fork, Dura-Ace to Mavic CXP-14 wheels, Sugino crank, Thomson and 3T the rest), Steelman Cyclocross (Campy Record 10, Deda Newton & Thomson stuff)

The Thomson web site only lists 25.4 in the Elite style, and 3.18 in the Elite x2 & x4.

So, yes, I'd guess the 26.0 is no longer in production. They were only making limited sizes of 26.0 stems and only in black recently, so it was probably being phased out.

Try ebay I suppose? Or just ask around at shops, I've found some good new old stock stuff that has just be sitting on the shelf.

Sigh, I was afraid of that, thanks for the info!

Any suggestions on a good threadless 1 1/8 stem with a 26.0??

The '09 catalogs should still have the 26.0 version listed, I know norco does. I ordered the 26.0 thomson 4 bolt stem just recently.

A stem is a stem. Or do you need name brands?

I have no idea what the stem on my bike is. I took it off a mountain bike i bought at the begining of college. It gets the job done and holds my bars where they should be.

While they may all do the job, the front end of my bike is definitely less "noodly" with the Thomson. Not terribly important in the grand scale of things, but I do enjoy the bar feel that the beefy 4 bolt stem offers.

there was a seller on amazon that was still selling the 26.0 elites a few months ago, but as far as i know thomson has stopped producing them. ebay and left over stock are about all that's left. luckily i have one, it's an amazing stem and brand.
