Best tires
what would be the most skid proof tire?
|
either gatorskins or armadillos but i would go with gatorskins
|
tires on a bike with brakes
|
just get the cheapest tires. Even gatorskins get skidded through too fast for the price. puncture resistant!= skid resistant.

I'll disagree with this based on experience I blew out some CST's on one skid. One skid. I don't even know where the skid patch on my soma everwear is yet. OP >> Best way to not burn through tires? Use a brake. If you don't want a brake, learn to slow down without skidding. |
i have a brake i just enjoy skidding and don't mind buying new tires. i just don't want to get ones that blow in one skid.

My experience with armadillos and skidding has been bad. The way in which the rubber is attached to the casing (glue I suspect) makes it so the rubber often comes off in large chunks. I used a rather old one a little while ago and the tire lasted me all of two days before it had gaping wounds in half of it! Anyone else have this experience?
|
Another thing you could is rotate your tire on the rim so the same areas aren't being worn down whenever you skid.
|
you can also get vittoria randonneur or soma everwear, those are good enough
|
seriously, is this a joke? isn't this like the 3rd thread this week alone on this topic?
|
Please dont make light of this serious issue.
Seriously... All tires suck for brakeless type riding... my experience tells me that cheap tires are the way to go... they all gonna wear out if you are sliding on them. When I stop finding used ones I am gonna try an everwear though... |
put a $30 front brake on your bike instead of spending double that each month
I know its not cool right I rode brakeless the first 4 years I rode and never had to skid never had to skip it is called strength but now I am lazy and I ride with a front brake |

you ever been to Sacramento? It isn't quite as bad as NY but it can be pretty difficult at times I am sorry you feel you machismo is insulted because I suggested riding with a brake after all I have only been riding fixed for about 5 years now
|
Wow, 5 years riding fixed in the traffic free dust bowl! You are amazing.

Your question is nonsensical. There are no tires that will not skid. All tires will skid when you lock the wheel up. Learn how to modulate your brake properly and you'll avoid skidding.

I honestly don't get why people skid. Just put on a freakin' front brake and get over it. |
