Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

'09 fuji track - good price???

Fuji's website says that the bike MSRP is $570, and a lbs is selling it for $500. Even though this is way cheaper, a friend tells me that this bike isn't worth paying that much.

How much should I be looking to spend on this bike?

Thanks

i am thinking of buying a fuji track 650 (with drops and two brakes) for $540. someone (a salesperson at a different bike store) told me that fuji is no longer a good quality bike. my impression was that it is a solid make. can someone send comments, feedback, advice?

thanks!

he may have meant that they are made in Taiwan, but almost all bikes are. I am really just guessing and have no idea what he could mean.

You can probably still get an 07 and maybe a 08 for somewhere around 300.

how does making stuff in taiwan make it a bad bike company. Hell, nearly every major manufacture has the frames built in taiwan.

the problem is the size issue. i need a super small bike, as i am 4'11... so the 43/43cm bike is really perfect.
thanks all!

For some reason, I love the expression "out the door".

Totally random, I know.
