I have an 08 madison which I love. I paid 370 last summer and its a good bike. My advise to you is to keep things stock for a while and then replace that which you don't like (for me, bars, saddle) instead of turning it into that hipster monstrosity that is the republik.

That's the exact same as the one you first posted. They're both Republic bikes, and from what I've heard, they aren't good quality, and they're heavy.

If you buy that bike I will personally find a way to ban your account.
Go with a BD bike, or one from your LBS. A bike isn't meant to be a fashion piece.

Republic bikes are known for being very cheaply made, using poor quality components, and very heavy. They are fine for people who don't ride much and are concerned with getting a cool looking bike, but they are not acceptable for people who ride a lot. You said you ride a lot, so you shouldn't get one of those bikes.

look, i know things about bikes. i currently own 3 other bikes. i have a Schwinn sports tourer, a Raleigh performance bike. and a mountain bike.
i am looking for something different that has a nice look to it. i like the style of a fixie/single speed like that. i dont just want it because its nice looking though. i am just looking for a bike of that style

Again, don't get a republic bike. Go w/ a kilo and then you can customize it to your taste. Kilos aren't bad bikes.

PLEASE use the search function on this site, it has been instrumental in helping me make a good bike-buying decision. This question gets asked countless times, so try searching for threads about:
Mercier Kilo TT
Specialized Langster
Bianchi Pista
Windsor The Hour
Iro
Or even dig around the sticky'd thread "Fixed Gear/Single Speed - Start Here!"
Good luck with your search!

do you consider yourself sorta handy with spanners? do you want to learn a bit about fixing/maintaining bikes? If that's 'yes', and if you're in the US and have the amazing option of cheapo bikeisland wheels, i'd seriously look at doing a conversion. if you can find a cheapo <$50 ebay or CL bike, it'll be worthwhile. I converted an old tsunoda, and it's definitely better than anything you'd get in a shop... in my eyes anyway!

i got a republic bike but got new wheels, bars, tires, seat. the frame holds up well but everything else pretty much sucks. in a few months i plan on only having the frame left, with all new components. its good considering i got it when they were only 340$
