Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Anyone own the Nashbar Fixie?

Hey, im concidering getting it the end of august because i can get it for a mere $200, i got a coupon.

Ive searched and havent been able to find any posts about it. Seems like a decent bike for the money, to me. This is also going to be my first fixed gear. Well technically not, ive owned a couple when I was a kid in Russia, but that was a while ago.

So yea i just wanna hear some opinions if you've had first hand experience with one.
I know i'm gonna need to have the wheels looked at and tightened and possibly trued, and everything lubed up and gone over. but thats no sweat off my back, simple stuff.

nevermind, i just found the 2 page thread about this bike. Even though i can get it for $200, it seems like for an extra 100 i can get a better bike.

Let's face it, none of us are "left" of mainstream on here. If the OP really needs a bike soon and a Nashbar or a BD bike is what they can afford, then yeah, it makes ALOT of sense and he should get one. If they can afford to wait, then it might just be better to purchase a bike with some more reliable components.
