Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

I hate this noddy-nod wavey-wave crap. Just ride your bike to wherever you're going and don't get all butthurt if a cyclist has something better to do than wave and smile back.

You don't get talk **** about skateboards you talentless hipster ****ing piece of ****. Clearly you could NEVER EVER summon enough talent to do anything on a skateboard or anything else that took an ounce of actual skill. Anyone can ride a ****ing bike.

Stop being such an emo hipster like the original poster. If you are looking for criticism about your fashion choices of bike parts, tattoos, and shoes then you will get it. There are a MILLION fixed gear riders here in NYC and I NEVER have a problem with any "fixed on fixed" hate because I don't invite their opinion into my life. But if you do, you get what you want.

You really cut to the core of me. not only can I not even kickflip, I can't to sweet ripskidz on my sweet fixiepixie, and the whole world knows. Why did I even try to responding to you, you obviously know so much about me. My mountain dew is getting flat and the commercials are done for the X-Games, I best get back.

This is the best thread.

As for people hating on your tattoos, solution - don't get tattoos. Oh I guess that's out of the question because they are an essential part of your identity and without them you would be lost. Ok.

Just by reading this one sentence I can tell that you are such a **** that it amazes me you were even able to land a job to get the money for your bike. They are laughing at you when you pass them bumping along on your saddle looking tough in your drops, or maybe, in a drop position on your risers? Probably the latter. Maybe they would wave to you if you weren't doing your best Fred Durst on a fixed gear impression.

You idiot, it's FAIR trade coffee. Why don't you go put on some lederhosen and eat some bratwurst and you and your cheap beer drinking companions can talk about Brett Favre and FIBs while you say, "Ya hey there, let's go to the bubbler for a drink there." Jeez.

Riding the streets and skatin' the vert. The riding helps strengthen the muscles around my aging knees, self serving circle of fun. I can see trying to ride a "fixie" on the ramp as a quick ticket to emergency room.

Yea me too, Milwaukee is nice but its not the same. A year from now I'll be moving back either to Logan's Square or bucktown, hopefully the rent doesn't keep skyrocketing in both :/
