So I guess I'm going to become a Fixie
whatever that is. I was just looking for an old bike in decent shape that I could use for exercise because I can't afford (or rationalize) spending thousands on a bike made of unobtanium.
So I found a really old (60's) road bike. Turns out it has its original English flipflop hub, so that saves me from having to screw with the freewheel or derailleurs anymore.
I think this will make a simple reliable vintage fixed gear for about $20.00 all in.

Thanks, and that's about all I could spend, too. I blew all my money on custom long track speed skate boots and Maple clap blades.

Not after all the rust I had to scrub, you might be able to see the difference between the two pedals. One is done, the other not done. The whole bike looked like the other pedal except for the frame and the saddle which looked great.

That's gonna be a great bike when it's all done and ready to go. People leave bikes at my shop from time to time, right now I'm debating on converting a Fuji a customer left behind. They have about 12 more days to come back and claim it, if not, she comes home with me

The Saddle says "Wright Saddle Co. Ltd Birmingham" The leather on it is so thick it reminds me of shell cordovan leather. I've been taking it all apart and cleaning things and some of the manufacture names appear as I scrub.
The chain links say Renold Made in England , and I found a Hans Renold Co. that made some of the first industrial chains.
The rims say "Sturmey Archer 27 x 1.25"
The brakes have no name, just "Made in England"
The derailleurs and gear toggles all say "Huret" Made in France
The crankset is Nervar.
The Front hub has an interlocked "RI" Raleigh Industries?
Rear Flip Flop hub had no markings
The bike came with no handles, so I'll have to use the ones from my sister's old Raleigh Grand Prix from the 70's.

So, I cleaned everything and put it back together. Here are some photos. Thoughts or recommendations?
27 in wheels
Lenton Sports downtube
3 prong cotterred crank

Thanks. I took it out 10 miles for my first fixed gear ride this morning and it is just what I'm looking for in terms of exercise. It was worth putting in the work. I feel like its "my" bike already, if that makes any sense.
I'll post something in C&V too.

Its def not a track bike, no track ends and drilled for rear brakes, but its still a sweet ride! see the C and V, they can tell you what it is and how it looked orig.

Looks great!
I think your seatpost is on backwards, but that may be intentional as that bike looks a bit large for you with the way it is set up now.
How does it ride?

I'm definitely getting some toe clips and a water bottle.
